Women’s Soccer Shuts Out MacMurray 5-0

The Westminster women’s soccer team shut out MacMurray College 5-0 Saturday night. The Blue Jays improve to 2-1 in St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) record and a 4-8-1 overall record.

Sophomore Eileen Koppy scored the lone goal of the first half in the 32nd minute, later becoming the game winning goal. Just 51 seconds into the second half, Koppy dribbled up the middle and scored an 18-yard goal. Sophomore Tayisah Pohtos (Ousley) bent the ball into the goal off a pass from sophomore Ashley Schimmel in the 58th minute. Ten minutes later, Pohtos had a breakaway; the goalie came out of the net and she laid the ball in the net easily. With 1:29 left in the game, freshman Lura Keogh scored her first career goal off a rebound from sophomore Erin DeVasto’s shot.

Freshman Ellen Woolsey recorded her fourth shutout with the win, finishing with 3 saves.
