Westminster Exceeded Expectations and Gave Boldly on Giving Tuesday

Westminster’s “Give BOLDLY” Giving Tuesday campaign on Dec. 1, 2020, exceeded expectations by raising $50,000. The amount was more than double last year’s giving total of $18,880.

Angie Sullivan, Director of Annual Giving, says a highlight of this year’s Giving Tuesday campaign was the implementation of a new giving page that makes financial contributions seamless.

“Although we weren’t able to accept cash gifts this year, and students were already on their holiday break and off campus, online gifts could be made through the new giving page,” Sullivan explains.

The page, which is powered by GiveCampus, can be found on Westminster’s website.

Sullivan adds that although student giving and overall individual alumni contributions did not meet this year’s challenges established by the Alumni Council and Interim President Don Lofe and his wife, Lorraine, the overall alumni giving total was phenomenal.

Alumnus Mike Reid, ’68 FIJI, says he chose to give back to Westminster on Giving Tuesday ― and at other times ― because he firmly believes in supporting his alma mater.

Reid majored in History at Westminster and today is Executive Director of the Missouri School Boards’ Association. He lives in Jefferson City, MO, with his wife, Sally. Their daughters and one son-in-law are all alumni: Sarah Murray, ’93 ΚΚΓ, Anne Curchin, ’97 ΚΚΓ, Emily Stanley, ’00 ΚΚΓ, and Logan Stanley, ’00 ΒΘΠ.

Reid says he feels his financial contributions make a difference in individual students’ lives.

He explains, “I give back to the College in this particular way because I love Westminster and think it’s important that kids on campus have the same opportunities I did years ago.”
