Brier Plans to Brave-a-Shave

Brier Skogsberg (above) will graduate in 2016 with a degree in biology with a minor in spanish. She is the house chairman of Kappa Kappa Gamma, a Student Ambassador, member of the Pre-Healthcare Professionals club, and a member of both the cross country team and the track team.

This November, Brier Skogsberg ’16 (Kirksville, MO) will go bald to make a difference for those battling cancer.

I saw a Brave-a-Shave campaign when I was 15 and it struck a chord in me,” says Brier. “Ever since then, I have wanted to do it too. I chose St. Jude as the recipient of my donation in honor of my 2 year-old sister. Watching her grow up happy and healthy has been such a blessing to me and there is nothing I want more than for every family to be able to say the same thing about their own daughter.”

Brier is currently planning to donate all of her hair to Pantene’s Beautiful Lengths program to provide free, real-hair wigs to women who have lost all of their own during battles with cancer.

“I think that every woman deserves to feel beautiful when she looks in the mirror, despite circumstances beyond her control,” she says. “I hope that my hair will contribute to a wig that will give another woman the strength to face the world another day.”

Brier is also using her hair donation to promote her fundraiser for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. All donations raised during the fundraiser will go directly to St. Jude to help the children there survive and thrive, as well as help cover many families’ medical expenses.

What a thrill to see a Westminster Kappa doing such a wonderful thing. Your brave-a-shave campaign is a marvelous way to share your generous and caring spirit.I am a Kappa who recently served Kappa as chairman of housing and I have a son who graduated from Westminster in the 80’s
I wish you well with your campaign and your Kappa housing responsibilities.
