Fulton, Mo. – The Westminster women’s soccer team defeated Millikin University 1-0 in their home-opener on Saturday, September 13. The Blue Jays moved to .500 on the season with a 2-2 record.
After a scoreless 72 minutes, junior Tayisah Pohtos dribbled the ball up the middle. Her shot skimmed just under the top of the net, giving the Blue Jays a 1-0 lead. The Blue Jays held the Millikin Big Blue from scoring again, ending the game with a 1-0 Blue Jay win.
The Blue Jays took nine shots, with four shots on goal.
Sophomore goalkeeper Ellen Woolsey (2-2) played the 90 minutes and was credited with the win. She completed the game with three saves.
The Blue Jays host Knox College tomorrow, September 14, at 2:00 p.m.
