Women place 2nd in St. Louis XC Classic, Men finish 4th

The Westminster men’s and women’s cross country team participated in the St. Louis Fall Cross Country Classic hosted by St. Louis College of Pharmacy. The men’s team ran the 8K with an average time of 28:44, finishing in 4th/6. The women’s team ran the 5K with an average time of 20:41 and finished in 2nd/7. Westminster’s senior Sarah Koestner finished in 8th with a 20:06 time.

The Blue Jay men’s team had two place in the top 20. Sophomore Jesse Edwards was the first to cross the finish line for the Blue Jays, placing 18th with a 28:08 time. Senior Matt Borst followed close behind with a 20th place finish and a 28:11 time.  Following Edwards and Borst was: Daniel Lindaman (22nd/28:28), Will Megl (24th /28:36), Nathan Fox (36th /30:16), Ryan Dyer (40th/ 32:00), and Jacob Burch (44th/ 32:29).

The Blue Jay women’s team finished with four in the top 20. Senior Sarah Koestner finished in 8th with a time of 20:06. Following Koestner across the finish line was senior Sarah Ogar in 11th, with a time of 20:29. Sophomore Brier Skogsberg and freshman Lily Wilis finished in 13th (20:33), and 14th (20:35) place, respectively. Following Willis was: Claire Gibby (25th/ 21:39), Danielle Smulczenski (27th/ 21:50), and Tiara Pettijohn (28th/ 21:51).

The Blue Jays will work this week for preparation for the SLIAC championship in Hillsboro, IL on Saturday, November 2nd.
