Volleyball Splits Matches At Eureka Quad

The Westminster volleyball team competed in the Eureka Quad Saturday afternoon to play Greenville College and Eureka College.

The Blue Jays fell to Greenville College, now 5-0 in SLIAC play, 1-3 for their first match of the day (20-25, 26-28, 28-26, 15-25).

“We would of liked to win, but we pushed them (Greenville). We had a substantial lead in three of the four sets, but we just couldn’t finish,” said Coach Curtis Madson.

Freshman Riley Lawrence finished the match with 20 kills and a .271 kill percentage. Freshman Kayla Reeg had 44 assists and four service aces. Reeg also had 27 digs. Sophomore Lexi Collier led the match with three block assists.

The Blue Jays then went on to defeat Eureka 3-0 (25-15, 25-14, 25-21). Freshman Amanda Kiso finished the match with a .818 kill percentage after have nine kills on 11 attempts. Kiso also had five of the team’s 11 block assists. Freshman Brianna Becker led the team with 21 assists.

“All in all, we played well today. We had a good day across the board; we had everybody set up,” said Coach Madson.

The Blue Jays will host Principia College Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. The game will be live here.
