Volleyball Slipped to Iowa Wesleyan

The Westminster volleyball team could not overcome their set one loss to Iowa Wesleyan and fell in three sets Wednesday evening in Mount Pleasant, Iowa. The Blue Jays move to 4-4 in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) and 7-6 overall, while the Iowa Wesleyan Tigers moves to 5-3.

“We were outworked tonight,” stated Head Coach Curtis Madson.

After falling 15-25 in the first set, the Blue Jays stuck with the Tigers. Sets two and three came down to the end, but the Blue Jays were unable to grasp the sets and fell 23-25 in both.

“We fought back in the sets, but they (Iowa Wesleyan) came ready to play,” commented Coach Madson.

Sophomore Lexi Collier led the Blue Jays with 12 kills on 25 attempts. Freshman Kayla Reeg had 33 assists and sophomore Caroline Will finished the night with 21 digs. Freshman Amanda Kiso had one solo block and four block assists.

The Blue Jays will head to Carlinville, Illinois to play Blackburn College this Friday, October 4, at 7:00 p.m.
