Missouri Delta Chapter of Alpha Chi Sweeps National Awards

Two members of the Missouri Delta chapter of the Alpha Chi National Honor Society at Westminster College won awards during the society’s virtual national convention that took place April 8-10.

Cydney Funk, ’22, and Abbegayle Sutterfield, ’21 ΚΑΘ, both won Alpha Chi Region IV scholarships for papers they submitted to the regional scholarship competition.

“Only two scholarships were awarded by Region IV, so Missouri Delta swept the competition,” explains Dr. David Jones, Missouri Delta’s Alphi Chi faculty sponsor and the society’s national president.

Funk’s winning paper, with faculty sponsor Dr. Jim McRae, was titled “Physician-Assisted Suicide for Untreatable Chronic Pain.”

Sutterfield’s winning paper, with faculty sponsor Jones, was titled “Empowering People to Change Their Behavior and Improve Their Well-Being.” Sutterfield was also named a national alternate for the H.Y. Benedict Fellowship for graduate study as a result of her paper submission.

In other Missouri Delta news, the society will induct 12 new members into the society on May 8. Please watch for information and photos from that event this summer.
