Men’s Soccer Defeated By NAIA Columbia College

The Westminster men’s soccer team was defeated 4-0 by NAIA Columbia College Thursday evening. The Blue Jays are now 0-3-1 in non-conference play.

The first half started out with four fouls, and the game’s intensity did not stop there. The first half was scoreless, but Westminster had one shot-on-goal and Columbia had three. Columbia’s Marko Paunovic put the Columbia Cougars on the board in the 57th minute. He then scored two goals in the 69th minute, putting them ahead 3-0 with 21 minutes left of play. The Cougars scored one more in the 76th minute, and the Blue Jays were unable to find the goal.

The Blue Jays were held to six shots throughout the game, two on-goal. Freshman goalkeeper Raul Belman Romero finished the game with seven saves, and the team had two saves.

The Blue Jays host Washington University- St. Louis Saturday evening at 7:00 p.m. The JV game will start at 4:00 p.m.
