Linda Campbell Establishes Westminster College Endowed Scholarship in Memory of Late Husband

Linda Campbell of Tulsa, OK has given Westminster College $100,000 to be used for an endowed scholarship in memory of her late husband, Dr. John G. Campbell, Westminster Class of 1962.

“I established this scholarship because I wanted to honor my husband who greatly loved Westminster College,” says Ms. Campbell. “And I wanted to encourage new incoming students who might need financial assistance to pursue a college education to come to Westminster where they will find the help they need.”

Dr. Campbell was a practicing otolaryngologist for 30 years in the Tulsa area. While attending Westminster, he was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon and became a member of the Westminster Board of Trustees (2000-2008). During his lifetime, Linda and he supported the Westminster Fund, the National Churchill Museum, the Cameron Day Endowed Chair and the campaign for the Mueller Leadership Hall.

Dr. Campbell passed away in 2008.

Students receiving the Dr. John G. Campbell Memorial Endowed Scholarship must have demonstrated quality leadership skills and character development while in high school or during attendance at Westminster and have financial need. Preference will be given to students from Oklahoma.

The first scholarship will be given in fiscal year 2016.

John and Linda Campbell’s son, Darin Ramey, Class of 1988, attended Westminster College and currently, the Campbell’s grandson, Zach Ramey from Tulsa, OK.

“We want to thank Linda Campbell for her generosity and desire to help others to have the opportunity to obtain a Westminster education,” says Westminster President Dr. George B. Forsythe. “What a fitting tribute this will be to Dr. Campbell, who treasured his years as a student at Westminster.”
