Koppy Scores Two In Blue Jay’s 3-0 Shutout

The Westminster women’s soccer team shut out the Blackburn Beavers 3-0 Saturday afternoon. The Blue Jays notch their first St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) win (1-1) and improve their overall record to 3-7-1.

Eileen Koppy scored the first goal of the game off a pass from Ashley Schimmel in the 26th minute. The Blue Jays had six shots on goal in the first half, but the Blue Jays were unable to score again.

Koppy scored again in the 60th minute. A pass from Katie Carr to LaTayisah Ousley put the final touch on the game with a header to score the third goal in the 69th minute.

The Blue Jays took 10 shots on goal. Freshman Ellen Woolsey recorded her first conference shutout with two saves.

The Blue Jays will host Central (Iowa) on Tuesday, October 8, at 5:00 p.m.
