Koppy and Woolsey Named SLIAC Players of the Week

The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference has announced the Players of the Week for October 7th. Westminster’s Eileen Koppy was named to the SLIAC Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week and Ellen Woolsey was named to the SLIAC Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week. This marks the second time this season Woolsey has won the award.

Eileen Koppy, a sophomore forward from St. Louis, Mo., scored two of the Blue Jay’s three goals in a 3-0 road win over Blackburn last week. Koppy netted the first goal, and eventual game-winner, at the 27 minute mark before adding an insurance goal mid-way through the second-half.

Ellen Woolsey, a freshman goalkeeper from Marshall, Mo., helped blank Blackburn College, who entered the game as one of the nation’s top scoring teams. Woolsey stopped both shots she faced in recording the shutout and helping her team notch their first conference victory of the season.

The Blue Jay women’s soccer team hosts Central (Iowa) Tuesday at 5:00 p.m.
