Cross Country Participates In MSSU Southern Stampede

The Westminster men’s and women’s cross country team participated in the MSSU Southern Stampede Saturday morning in Joplin Missouri. The men’s team competed against 16 teams in the 8K, mostly against NAIA and Junior College schools. The women’s team competed against 19 teams in the 5K.

The men’s team placed 8th with an average time of 27:52.79. Sophomore Jesse Edwards finished first for the Blue Jays, placing 21st out of 135 runners with a 26:42.74 time, taking one minute off his personal best. Senior Matt Borst crossed the line next for the Blue Jays with a time of 27:04.07.

The women’s team placed 9th with an average time of 20:04.26. Senior Sarah Koestner finished in 21st out of 141 runners with a 18:58.51 time, replacing her personal best by 27 seconds. Senior Sarah Ogar crossed next for the Blue Jays, placing 34th with a 19:20.90 time.

The Blue Jays will head to Rock Island, Illinois to participate in the Augustana Invitational on Friday, September 27th. The race will start at 5:00 p.m.
