Enthusiastic Alumni Support for New Tool to Connect Westminster Community

The Westminster offices of Alumni Engagement and Career Development have entered into a partnership with WISR, a company that works with select colleges and universities to create a career and advising network for engaging alumni and driving better career outcomes for students. WISR helps colleges build an online community for students, alumni, and supporters to connect, share knowledge, and drive meaningful career outcomes.

In the first two weeks since registration opened, more than 300 Westminster alumni have already signed up to mentor and network with Westminster students.

This new Westminster College Career Network seamlessly pulls the email accounts or Linkedin profiles of members of the Westminster community to create a network profile. Then students can search the profiles to reach out to caring Westminster alumni, faculty, staff, students, or friends for graduate school choices, career paths, industries of interest, and much more. Prospective students will be told about this new tool during the recruitment process and be able to enroll as freshmen.

All communications are managed through email inboxes so that members of the Blue Jay nation can provide advice without handling any complicated logistics or committing to a long-term program. This new network platform will also be a great way for alumni to connect with fellow alumni.

Alumni, faculty, staff, parents, and friends have been sent an email encouraging registration for the Westminster College Career Network. Follow up postcard reminders will be sent to these groups in February, and students will be invited to join in March.  Anyone who did not receive an email and would like to sign up for the network should contact Sarah Munns, Director of Alumni Engagement, at 573-592-6050 or sarah.munns@westminster-mo.edu.

At a time when retaining students is so important, personal connections are imperative. Westminster has built a strong reputation for supporting its students through alumni connections.  This new tool will enhance that interaction.
