Busken Scores Lone Goal In Blue Jays’ 1-3 Loss

The Westminster women’s soccer team stopped in Decatur, Illinois Sunday afternoon to play Millikin University. The Blue Jays fell 1-3 to the Big Blue, bringing their season record to 2-6-1.

The Big Blue scored the first goal just seven minutes into the game. Sophomore Alyssa Busken scored her first collegiate career goal just four minutes later off a pass by sophomore Ashley Schimmel.

The Blue Jays had one more shot opportunity in the first half, but could not get past the Big Blue’s goalkeeper.

Millikin scored twice in the second half in the 55th and the 76th minute.

Westminster’s goalkeeper Ellen Woolsey finished the game with five saves. After today’s play, Woolsey leads the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) in saves with 73 for the season.

Westminster will travel to Elsah, Illinois on Saturday for their first SLIAC matchup versus Principia College. Play will start at 3:00 p.m.
