Women’s Greek Recruitment a Success

On Sunday, August 28, 65 young women in their first year at Westminster College became Greek for the first time. Students at Westminster have the chance each year to go through formal recruitment seeking to become a part of a sisterhood or brotherhood through a social Greek organization. For women’s recruitment, this meant 65 girls chose to embark upon the journey of becoming a sorority member and one day a Greek leader on campus.

“I think Greek life at Westminster is at a really crucial point right now and the fact that over 80 girls signed up for recruitment is a great sign,” says Kappa Kappa Gamma President Liz Carthen ’17. “When 1 Greek organization does well on this campus it helps all the other Greek organizations to thrive and be better.”

“I am very happy to have 20 new members this year,” says Kappa Alpha Theta President Courtney Gallagher ’17. “I can’t wait to see all of the wonderful things I know they will do for Kappa Alpha Theta, Greek life, and the entire Westminster community!”

“Women’s recruitment was amazing this year,” says Alpha Gamma Delta President Kailey Merchant ’17. “I loved how everyone came together to grow and promote Greek life on Westminster Campus.”

Teri Davis ’20 (middle), a freshman at Westminster, shares her thoughts after going through Women’s Greek Recruitment:

“I really enjoyed going through recruitment because I love meeting new people and I enjoyed having the opportunity to have meaningful conversations with people I otherwise might have never met. To me, being Greek means being a part of something bigger than myself. It is being part of a sisterhood full of amazing women that support me and believe in me. Going Greek here at Westminster was one of the best decisions I have ever made, and I can’t wait to see where it takes me!”

Natalie Tiffany ’20 (right) shares her thoughts too:

“I also really enjoyed going through recruitment. I was able to meet a lot of great new people that I have things in common with. Being Greek to me means giving back to the community through service with other girls that I can share that passion and bond with.”
