Q&A with Evan Lemaster ’18: Residence Hall Life Tips for New Students
Below, Evan Lemaster ’18 (Putnam City HS/Oklahoma City, OK) shares his view of, and tips for, living in the freshmen residence halls.
Is there anything you needed for your room that you didn’t think about before you moved in?
When I got in my room, it only took me a couple of days to figure out that I should have brought some curtains with me to put up.
What is something that you appreciate about living on campus?
I appreciate the company of always having a roommate. On nights where neither you or your roommate can sleep, it’s good to have someone to talk to.
What’s the best thing you brought with you, or bought, for your room?
The best thing I brought was a desk calendar that I write everything that I need to do on. It especially helps with managing my homework.
Biggest fear you had about moving to college? How do you feel now?
My biggest fear was not being able to fit in. I came to college without any friends on campus. I quickly got involved and made friends without a problem. A roommate can even give you connections to a certain group of people or clubs you are interested in.
