Westminster-Mesa’s Andrew Kuhn, ’15

Westminster College expanded to open a new campus in Mesa, AZ, a rapidly growing and dynamic suburb of Phoenix, in Fall 2013. The following is one of four Q&A’s with Mesa students to find out their take on the Westminster experience in Mesa after their first semester.

Andrew Kuhn is a senior international studies major from Blue Ridge Summit, PA.Andrew Kuhn, '15, Westminster-Mesa

Q: What drew you to Westminster?

Andrew: The small class sizes and the opportunity to be a part of something totally new.

Q: How do you think your experience at Westminster compares to other colleges and universities?

Andrew: Unlike some of my friends at other colleges, I know everyone in my classes, and along with the academic experience, I am having some incredible personal experiences. At Westminster I have more personal contact with the administration and with my professors. Our classroom discussions are completely open.

Q: What was your most memorable experience in the first semester?

Andrew: Delivering the opening speech to start the first semester at the Columns Ceremony.

Q: Which faculty member has most influenced you?

Andrew: Mark Young in literature and writing.  His classes are more than reading, understanding, and interpreting literature.  He translates the implications into history, psychology, sociology, and many other areas.

Q: What are you experiencing at Westminster that you believe will give you an edge in the job market upon graduation?

Andrew: My professors are strategic in every lesson and activity we do making connections between the material and real life so we can learn to apply our knowledge.
