What is your current career position?
Market Chief Financial Officer at UnitedHealthcare.
Please describe your current work.
My current employer, UnitedHealthcare, is committed to helping people live healthier lives and to making the health system work better for everyone. My role is to assist, from a financial perspective, the local market leadership teams in Missouri, Iowa, Kansas and Nebraska to develop and achieve their business objectives.
What are your future goals?
To live life to the fullest, be true to myself and do what brings me joy.
What does being a “leader” mean to you? What did you learn about leadership while at Westminster, and how has that translated into your life since graduation?
I’m grateful for the leadership opportunities I had while at Westminster, which included the Honor Commission, Kappa Alpha Theta and being a resident advisor. It was a training ground to prepare me for my professional and personal life.
What does “success “mean to you?
Success means doing your very best. After all, the only person to whom you must answer is yourself.
What is it about Westminster that makes it the kind of community that empowers students to discover their purpose and find success?
When I was at Westminster, women had not been part of the student body for very long. However, I always felt that I had an equal advantage and was welcomed by administrative staff and faculty. Looking back, I can more fully appreciate the support I was provided to choose my own path to success.
Last book you read?
I am in a couple of book clubs, so I do like to read. The last book I read was Tales of Two Americas.
Favorite TV show?
Madam Secretary. I appreciate how the series includes the human aspect of leadership.
Hobbies and interests?
Travel, gardening, arts and theater, music, yoga. My favorite travel destination so far was Greece, but I’m planning my next trip, which will be to Alaska.
