Dr. John Langton Celebrated During Pi Sigma Alpha Induction Ceremony
Westminster College’s chapter of Pi Sigma Alpha, the National Political Honor Society, inducted 11 new members and hosted an informal retirement reception via Zoom for Dr. John Langton at 12 p.m. on March 19 in Hazel 112 of Reeves Library.
Much to his surprise, family members, alumni, and others Zoomed in to congratulate Langton on his 40-year tenure with the College.
Langton expressed his gratitude and reminisced that those present were familiar with one of his primary teaching philosophies: “Have something to profess … something you really want to share,” he said with emphasis about his daily goal for each class.
Following the virtual event, Dr. Tobias T. Gibson, the Dr. John Langton Professor of Legal Studies and Political Science, conducted the Pi Sigma Alpha induction ceremony.
Students welcomed into the society were Katharine Bauer, ’21 ΚΑΘ, Katherine Bloom, ’22 ΚΚΓ, Kayla Bunch, ’21 ΚΚΓ, Corrie Dunkin, ’23, Cydney Funk, ’22, Jakob Gibson, ’22 ΦΔΘ, Taylor Grimsley, ’23 ΑΓΔ, William Murphy, ’22 ΦΔΘ, Brooke Thompson, ’23, Matthew Trout, ’24 ΦΔΘ, and Krystal Ramos-Irizarri, ’22 ΚΑΘ.
