SLIAC All-Academic Team Record Holder from Westminster to Throw Out First Pitch at Cardinals Game
More than 1200 Westminster College alumni, faculty, staff and students will attend the 4th annual Westminster Night at Busch Stadium Wednesday night, May 27, to watch the St. Louis Cardinals play the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Danielle Smulczenski, a 2015 Westminster graduate and three-sport student-athlete from Springfield, MO, will throw out the first pitch. Smulczenski is the first-ever student-athlete to achieve St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) All-Academic team recognition nine times.
Varsity student-athletes that have reached at least sophomore year in academic standing, have attended their current institution for one full academic year and have a 3.5 cumulative GPA (on a 4.0 scale) are eligible for the SLIAC All-Academic Team. A full list of SLIAC All-Academic team members for Spring 2015 will be released in early June.
A member of the Westminster basketball, cross country, and track teams, Danielle was part of Westminster’s 2013-14 women’s basketball team that ranked #1 in the nation for GPA among NCAA Division III teams.
Smulczenski plans to move to St. Louis in the fall to work for the Ernst & Young accounting firm.
A pre-game event for Westminster attendees will be held at The Outfield at Mike Shannon’s (starting at 4:30) and a post-game event sponsored by USI will take place at Ball Park Village.
