WWAT Committee Seeks Nominations for “40 Years, 40 Women”

By the Westminster Women Advancing Together Committee

As the 40th anniversary of Westminster’s acceptance of women into the student body approaches, Westminster College and Westminster Women Advancing Together, or WWAT, would like to acknowledge 40 extraordinary Westminster women who have made significant contributions to their professional fields and communities and embody the core values of the College. In addition to the College’s annual summer call for Alumni Achievement Award nominations, we are also currently soliciting nominations from the Westminster community to highlight “40 Years, 40 Women” as part of the 40th anniversary of women being admitted to the College.

We hope you will join us in identifying a strong, diverse representation of some of the most dynamic, extraordinary women ever to attend Westminster College!

Nomination and Selection Process

Individuals may nominate any female student who completed two semesters at Westminster. Candidates may be nominated by Westminster faculty, students, alumni, and leaders, or self-nominate.

The nomination process begins July 19 and ends August 23. Nomination packages must include the following:

  • A resume, bio, and/or LinkedIn profile of the nominee.
  • A statement no longer than 500 words by the nominator.

A panel of former and current faculty, leaders, students, and alumni will meet in late August to review the nominations and make final selections to be highlighted in “40 Years, 40 Women.” The 40 women will be selected on the following criteria:

  • Professional contributions.
  • Citizenship and engagement in community service.
  • Demonstration of Westminster’s core values in all aspects of one’s life.

Our goal is that the 40 women selected will also reflect a diverse group of women across the past 40 years.

Showcasing “40 Years, 40 Women”

“40 Years, 40 Women” will be revealed as part of Hancock Symposium and the John Findley Green Foundation Lecture, featuring former U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, and included in the next publication of Leadership magazine.

Each of the 40 women will be highlighted individually on the Westminster website throughout 2020.

The 40 women will be recognized during Alumni Weekend 2020, and a reception will be hosted in their honor by Westminster Women Advancing Together.

To nominate a woman for “40 Years, 40 Women,” all required information, detailed above, must be submitted here no later than August 23, 2019. For further information, please email [email protected].
