Women’s Tennis Tops Fontbonne, 8-1

The Westminster women’s tennis team topped Fontbonne on Saturday morning, 8-1. The Westminster Blue Jays are now 4-6 overall and 2-2 in conference play.

The Blue Jays swept Fontbonne in the doubles competition, winning the one and two spot with a 8-1 and 8-0 score, respectively. The three’s spot was won with a forfeit.

Senior Sarah Heeter won the number one singles with a 6-0 and 6-1 score. Freshman Ellen Woolsey defeated Fontbonne in the three’s spot, 6-0 and 6-3, and freshman Laura Kelly swept Fontbonne 6-0 and 6-0 in the four’s spot. The Blue Jays won the five and six spot off a forfeit.

The Blue Jays will host Webster University for the final regular season conference match up on Wednesday, April 16. Play begins at 4:00 p.m. at the Elder Tennis Courts.
