Women’s Soccer Shuts Down Iowa Wesleyan, 3-0

The Westminster women’s soccer team shut down Iowa Wesleyan on Wednesday evening, 3-0. The Westminster Blue Jays move to 3-0-1 in conference play and 6-4-1 overall.

Junior Eileen Koppy took the ball from a defender in the 8th minute of the game and put the ball into the back of the net to give the Blue Jays a 1-0 lead.

Koppy scored again in the 20th minute with a goal to the low right corner of the net.

Junior Katie Koonce crossed the ball to junior Monica Bittner who put it into the net in the 35th minute to take the 3-0 lead.

The Blue Jays were unable to connect again, despite taking 9 shots on goal.

Sophomore Ellen Woolsey (5-4-1) was credited with the shutout win.

The Blue Jays travel to Louisville, Kentucky on Saturday, October 18, to take on Spalding University. First touch is at 12:00 EST.
