Women’s Soccer Shuts Out Eureka, 6-0

The Westminster women’s soccer team shut out Eureka, 6-0, on Saturday evening to move them to 2-0-1 in conference play. The Westminster Blue Jays are now 5-4-1 on the season.

Junior Alyssa Busken put the Blue Jays on the board with a goal off a corner kick by junior Eileen Koppy in the 10th minute of the game.

Koppy crossed the ball to junior Monica Bittner, who put it into the back of the net in the 22nd minute to bring the game to 2-0.

The Blue Jays were unable to score again in the first half, despite taking seven more shots on goal.

Koppy dribbled down the middle of the field and kicked the ball into the low corner of the goal to start the second half. She then assisted sophomore Adrienne Ebersole’s goal in the 53rd minute.

Bittner scored her second goal of the game after dribbling the ball up the field and shooting the ball into the middle of the net in the 58th minute.

Sophomore Amy Greene scored the sixth goal of the game in the 63rd minute off a cross from junior Brittany Paglusch.

Sophomore Ellen Woolsey (4-4-1) was credited with the shutout.

The Blue Jays host Iowa Wesleyan on Tuesday, October 14 at 5:00 p.m.
