Westminster Top Liberal Arts College in National Rankings for 13th Year Straight

Westminster College has been recognized as one of the top liberal arts colleges in the nation by one of the most prestigious national educational ranking firms for the 13th year in a row.

Westminster College is one of the select colleges that compete against all liberal arts colleges in the nation in their category.  Most colleges and universities are placed in the regional categories of North, South, Midwest and West where they are only ranked in comparison to their peers in the region.

Regarding this top national peer group, U.SNews & World Report announced Westminster ranked 148th in comparison to the other liberal arts colleges in the country in its 2016 assessment.  This year’s assessment ranked 1,376 schools.

“We are gratified that Westminster College continues to be recognized by national experts for its academic excellence year after year,” says President Dr. Benjamin Ola Akande.  “Being selected as a top liberal arts college in the nation by such a prestigious publication is a great honor and I hope reading about us will prompt prospective students to pay us a visit so they can see our beautiful campus and experience firsthand the individual academic attention and rich traditions of Westminster.”

Criteria used for the U.SNews & World Report ranking includes undergraduate academic excellence as determined by college presidents, provosts, admission deans and high school counselors; student retention; faculty resources; student selectivity; financial resources; graduation rate performance; and alumni giving rate.

Westminster was also named as an “A+ School for B Students” because of its successful student outcomes and emphasis on a diverse student body.

U.S.News & World Report, a national magazine, evaluates America’s colleges and universities for their academic excellence annually.
