Giving With a Purpose: Why Alumna Marissa Denehy Gives Back to Westminster College

Marissa (Tyler) Denehy, ’08 ΚΑΘ, and her spouse, Sam ’10 ΔΤΔ, enjoyed a trip of a lifetime to China before COVID-19 hit worldwide. Both work for Wells Fargo Advisors and are staunch supporters of Westminster College.

Westminster College benefits in countless ways from its selfless alumni who consistently provide the institution with support. Our alumni network watches out for current students and one another, providing internships, job opportunities, support with various programs on campus, and financial contributions.

To highlight those who give back to the College financially, Westminster Today periodically runs a “Giving With a Purpose” feature that highlights the many reasons our generous alumni choose to give back to the College that gave to them first.

This month, we feature Marissa (Tyler) Denehy, ’08 ΚΑΘ.

I give back to Westminster because I believe it gave a lot to me. I grew up in a lower socioeconomic household and never believed I’d be able to complete college, but Westminster provided me with enough financial aid to make it viable to attend. I fell in love with the campus life and I gained a valuable network that helped me land in my current career path, which led me to be able to complete an MBA and move up in my organization. I felt like there were people I didn’t even know advocating for my success by making my scholarships possible. I give back so that the next generation of students can feel that way. I’m also honored to serve on the Alumni Council, and my goal is to make sure the College adapts to our future world so that all students, regardless of background, race, religion, or orientation can feel the same way I did attending Westminster — welcome, valued, supported, and seen, and they leave feeling like they can move mountains. I give to Westminster because I love what it was to me while I was there, and I love what it can still become for the future.”

Thank you, Marissa, and all other Westminster alumni who give back to the College!
