Westminster Recognized as a Top College in the U.S. in 2 New Prestigious National Rankings
Westminster recently received news that the College has been selected as one of the nation’s top colleges and universities in two prestigious national rankings, Money magazine and The Princeton Review. Evaluations of overall value and academic quality, plus student reviews, contributed to the high Westminster rankings.
Money magazine, a publication of Time, singled out Westminster as one of the “Best Colleges for Your Money” in America for 2017.
A team of national experts in education quality, financing, and value examined America’s colleges and universities based on 27 measures of educational quality, affordability, and alumni success, all considered critical factors students examine before picking a college. Out of 2,400 colleges and universities in the country, only 711 were selected for the list.
In the recent 2018 school rankings for The Princeton Review, Westminster was named one of the “Best in the Midwest” among the Best Regional Colleges for its outstanding academics. A total of 658 colleges and universities were recognized and divided into five zones—Midwest, Northeast, Southeast, West, and International.
Only 158 colleges and universities in twelve states were selected for the Midwest honor. In addition to Missouri, honorees were selected from Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota and Wisconsin.
Schools were rated according to academics, admissions selectivity, financial aid, fire safety, quality of life and environmental awareness.
The other major factor used in evaluating colleges and universities was student input. Students attending a school were asked to rate their school on the accessibility of their professors, the quality of their facilities and equipment and the quality of campus life.
In the Westminster student evaluations, students liked that they received “a lot of individual attention from my teachers” and that they “are always available to students and actually sit down and listen.” Many students talked about selecting Westminster “because it has excellent classes and academic standards.”
Students also gave high marks to the atmosphere created at Westminster.
“As I walked around campus, I felt at home,” said one student. “Westminster is more than just a school; it’s a home and community. It wasn’t just a place to get an education but rather a place to learn to grow up.”
