Westminster Receives Phil Langan Graduate Internship Grant from CoSIDA
Westminster College received one of two Phil Langan Graduate Internship grants from the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on May 30. CoSIDA announced Westminster’s grant along with other scholarship and grant recipients throughout the country.
The Phil Langan Graduate Intern will assist Kirsten Carney ’13, Sports Information Director, in the athletics department.
“I’m thrilled to receive this grant from such a wonderful organization that supports Sports Information Directors across the country and helps those who want to break into the field,” Carney says. “I can’t wait to get the search for a candidate started and even more excited to show him or her what Westminster Athletics and sports information is all about.”
Carney says the intern will help manage statistical data for each of the 18 Blue Jay varsity sports, assist with social media efforts, and keep athletics-related information up to date on wcbluejays.com as well as help with event management for home contests.
The internship, which began in 1999, is a one-year grant of $15,000, which is designed to assist understaffed offices and provide opportunities for those who are wishing to break into the field of sports information.
