Westminster College Ranked Prestigiously by ‘Princeton Review’ as One of Best in the Midwest

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Fulton, Mo. ‒ Sept. 12, 2023: Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri, is one of the best 150 colleges in the Midwest according to recent information released by The Princeton Review.

In its “2024 Best Colleges: Region by Region,” the publication highlights a total of 630 colleges in seven zones that are considered “academically outstanding and well worth consideration in your college search.”

The rankings showcase all 630 institutions of higher education equally, without numeric rankings. They are listed alphabetically on The Princeton Review’s website.

Dr. Paul Orscheln, Vice President of Enrollment Services at Westminster since 2019, says the ranking does not surprise him.

He explains, “We’re in a unique time in higher education when other colleges and universities are lowering their admission requirements and increasing their discount rates to attract students. Our enrollment team is focused on adhering to Westminster’s standards of excellence, and that naturally attracts students who are a good match for us.”

Westminster College has been known for its academic rigor, small class sizes, and individualized approach to higher education since 1851.

Classes for Westminster’s 2023-2024 academic year officially began on Wednesday, Aug. 23. New students participated in the College’s time-honored convocation tradition on Aug. 19, where they recited the Athenian Oath and officially joined in the mission of Westminster College, to be “critically aware, lifelong learners and leaders of character, committed to the values of integrity, fairness, respect, and responsibility” prepared for “lives of success, significance, and service.”

“We have remained committed to building enrollment with students who have the greatest capacity to succeed, and we are doing so by providing a unique, one-on-one educational experience to those who are prepared for a Westminster College education,” Orscheln reflects, adding, “Our students this year are 10% more diverse than in recent years, are extremely well-prepared, and are truly going to make an impact on the world around them.”

ABOUT WESTMINSTER COLLEGE: Founded in 1851 and home of Winston Churchill’s “Iron Curtain” speech, Westminster College is ranked prestigiously by The Princeton Review as one of the “Best 150 colleges in the Midwest” for 2024. The independent think tank Third Way recently singled out the small, private college as one of the nation’s best among colleges and universities in the United States in terms of economic mobility and return on investment. New graduates experience a more than 90% placement rate in jobs or graduate school within six months of graduation, while our alumni overall are in the top 16% nationwide for graduate earnings. Additionally, U.S. News & World Report places Westminster in a unique category by itself, listing it as the only National Liberal Arts college in Missouri.
