Fulton, Mo.—March 13, 2020: Out of concern for our students regarding the evolving Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) situation throughout the world, Westminster College is cancelling a number of events and delaying students’ return to campus from Spring Break 2020. Spring break officially begins March 16.

The College will implement its Digital Blue Distance Learning Plan using school-issued iPads during the week of March 23, with an anticipated campus return date of March 28.

President Fletch Lamkin says that while there are no known cases of COVID-19 on campus at this time, the College is exercising an abundance of caution concerning the health and safety of the Blue Jay Nation.

“We want to remain situationally aware and proactive with regard to the world around us,” he says.

Westminster College has convened a COVID-19 Task Force consisting of staff and faculty across multiple departments to monitor the virus situation. In addition, the College is in regular contact with national and local health officials, including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Callaway County Health Department and the City of Fulton.

“The well-being of the Blue Jay Nation is our utmost priority,” Lamkin explains.

As such, the following events are cancelled or postponed until a later date:

  • The C.S. Lewis Legacy Lecture, Rev. Larry Brown, originally scheduled for April 2 – cancelled
  • The Brauer Lecture, Dr. Arthur Brooks, originally scheduled for April 17 – tentatively rescheduled for Spring 2021.

For all other cancellations or campus updates regarding COVID-19, please refer to our website at www.wcmo.edu.
