Interim President Lofe Announces Alumni Weekend 2021 Will Be a Virtual Event

In a Feb. 24 letter to the Westminster College community, Interim President and Chief Transformation Officer Donald P. Lofe, Jr., announced that Alumni Weekend 2021 will be a limited, virtual event that will take place on April 16.

Lofe emphasized the decision to forego a full in-person celebration resulted from ongoing careful evaluation of the present COVID-19 situation on campus and throughout the world.

“For our students, faculty, and staff, this has meant changes to daily life on campus, with the shared goal of making one of the most unusual years in Westminster’s history a successful one,” he explained. “For our alumni, this unfortunately means a change in plans for Alumni Weekend 2021.”

Lofe added that the health and safety of all was of utmost importance in the difficult decision to reevaluate and pivot to a virtual format.

After consulting with Westminster’s Board of Trustee’s COVID-19 Subcommittee, the College decided to offer the main events of Alumni Weekend ― including the prestigious Alumni Achievement Awards Convocation Ceremony ― in an online format available to the entire Westminster community.

More details regarding registration and how to access the events will be announced in future communications.

Lofe ended his letter by stating that the College continues to anticipate full in-person events in the future.

He wrote, “While Alumni Weekend 2021 will look quite different from previous years, we are looking forward to seeing as many of our alumni as possible during this virtual event, and we hope to welcome our off-campus community to in-person events soon.”
