Wellness Center Sponsors Suicide Prevention Training

Have you ever wondered what you would say or do if someone you know talked about suicide?

The Westminster Wellness Center will provide answers to that question with a special QPR Lunch & Learn Training Session at noon on Tuesday, September 5, in the Marsh Jones Room for those who register for this valuable training. Those who register by Friday, September 1, will be provided with a complimentary lunch.

QPR stands for Question, Persuade, Refer—three simple steps that anyone can learn to save a life from suicide.

Just as people trained in CPR and the Heimlich maneuver help save thousands of lives every year, people trained in QPR learn how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to question, persuade, and refer someone for help.

This training session will be particularly helpful for people involved in risk management, student leaders, and anyone interested in possibly saving a life.

Completion of the training will result in certification.

To register for the session, send an email to Margie.Lechner@westminster-mo.edu with the subject heading “QPR Training.”
