Lend a Hand or Donate Items at Campus Beautification Day
Calling all students, faculty, staff, and alumni: Roll up your sleeves and lend a hand at Campus Beautification Day from noon to 5 p.m. on April 10.
Headed up by the Skulls of Seven and taking place for the first time in Westminster history with alumni, it is hoped that Campus Beautification Day will become an annual tradition. Baby Skull Madison Loescher ’20 says volunteers are highly needed. “We need lots of people from the Westminster community to make this event work,” Loescher explains, adding, “We particularly would love the help of current and past Skulls of Seven to make this event successful and memorable.”
The collaborative goal is part of this year’s theme, “When Community Becomes Unity.” And while a good turnout of workers is necessary for sprucing up the campus after a long winter, Loescher says donations of certain items will help make the day a success.
The Campus Beautification Committee is not seeking money but would like donations of the following items:
- Bottled water
- Grab-and-go snacks
- Hand shovels/spades
- Work gloves
- Bedding flowers
Donations can be left at the Plant Operations Building on the corner of Hickman Avenue and Seventh Street prior to Campus Beautification Day.
Volunteer workers will meet on The Hill and will be assigned quick, one-hour projects such as painting railings, cleaning stairwells and common areas in buildings, planting flowers on The Hill, and ground-level window cleaning. Volunteers can work as little as one hour or plan to stay for the entire afternoon.
