Blue Jay Nation to Celebrate First Football Game on New Turf

Members of the Westminster community will want to be a part of Blue Jay Nation celebration as the football team takes the field against Iowa Wesleyan University for the first home game to be played on the new artificial turf at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 15.

The new field and scoreboard are Phase One of the new $4 million Kent and Judith Mueller Athletic Facility which will be completed over the next year.

Those attending the game should know it is BYOC (Bring Your Own Chair or Couch) because the new bleachers have not been installed yet.

Coach John Welty and his coaching staff are also asking that those planning on attending bring a bottle of Gatorade which will be collected at the entrance to help with the team’s travel needs. Students who bring a bottle of Gatorade will be given a ticket that allows them to participate in the Punt, Pass, and Kick competition on the field at half time.

All Blue Jay fans are invited to be a part of the Spirit Tunnel to welcome the team to the field before the game.  Those interested in participating should gather in front of the Wetterau Training Center 10 minutes before kickoff.

The first 250 people to attend the game will receive a commemorative cup of the event.

Those unable to attend the game can watch the live stream at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC47UXPHBTQnfaGEEgnmk7-Q?view_as=subscriber.
