Theme Houses Host Block Party at Westminster College

Westminster College offers an alternative to traditional college housing by allowing upperclassmen students to join theme houses. These houses bring students together by allowing them to live with students who share a similar passion. The Westminster community recently had the opportunity to tour the College’s theme houses during a block party that helped each house raise awareness for their respective causes and enlighten students on what it means to be a part of a theme house. As students visited each house, they got to add different parts to their flower pots which were later donated to a service project.

The theme houses include the Remley Women’s Center, Interfaith Leadership, Micah House, CIVICUS, and Eco House.

Remley

  • The Remley Women’s Center helps students of all backgrounds to become educated and act on women’s and gender issues.

interfaith

  • Interfaith Leadership is a theme house where students of different faiths can learn about each other’s beliefs.

micah 2

  • At Micah House, students strive to follow the commandment of Micah 6:8, NIV, which is “He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”

civicus

  • In CIVICUS, students work together to promote social justice both in Fulton and around the world.

Eco house 2

  • Last, but not least, Eco House educates students on how to live a more ecofriendly and sustainable life style while also raising awareness about environmental issues.

All houses are always available as a resource to students who want to pursue education and/or action regarding the cause of each house.
