Summer Classes Available to All College Students in Convenient Options

College students home for the summer will now have the opportunity to pick up three hours of college credit online at a discounted hourly tuition rate or courses through a number of other convenient options that fit their schedules at Westminster College.

Under Westminster’s new “Pick Up 3” program, students from area colleges and universities have the option of gaining three hours in three weeks if they want a fast-paced schedule that will allow them to have most of their summer free.  Those seeking a slower paced class can register to pick up the three hours in a six week term.

“This is a great chance for students to get ahead of the game by taking one of their major or general education classes before fall,” says Director of Online Learning Dr. Sue Serota.  “It’s an especially good deal for students who just have one class left to graduate, since they can get it taken care of and move into the job market immediately.  Of course, the major advantage of taking online classes is that you can go at a more relaxed pace and take the class at home or another alternate location, and we are giving them the course work at a discounted rate as well.”

Summer online classes have become very popular among Westminster students and now for the first time students from other colleges and universities can take advantage of “Pick Up 3” as well.

The 3-in-3 summer online classes (three credit hours in three weeks) begin June 6 and run through June 24.  Registration must be completed by the end of business day on Friday, June 3.

Six-week online classes will run from May 31-July 12 and students must complete registration by end of business day Friday, May 27.

An on campus option is also available to area college students.

Under the 3-in 3 June term on campus, students will come to campus two days a week from 5:30 p.m-9 p.m. from June 6-June 24.  Some online work will also be assigned.  Registration for this option is open until Friday, June 3.

Summer online and on campus classes this year include accounting, astronomy, business, chemistry, economics, education, English, geography, health/exercise science, history, humanities, international studies, leadership, math, music, philosophy, political science, psychology, religion, security studies, sociology, speech, transnational studies and women/gender studies.

An added bonus is course work comes with a free transcript upon course completion.
