Students Inducted into Leadership Honor Society

 Eight Westminster students were inducted into the Alpha Tau Circle of Omicron Delta Kappa, a prestigious national leadership honorary society, this spring in the Church of St. Mary the Virgin, Aldermanbury on campus.

The Omicron Delta Kappa Society, Inc. is the national leadership society that recognizes and encourages superior scholarship, leadership and exemplary character.

“Academic excellence and character go hand in hand at Westminster College,” says Westminster President Dr. Benjamin Ola. Akande. “These new inductees have proven themselves worthy to be recognized as the best of the best we have to offer in both academics and character, and it is a pleasure for me to congratulate them on their achievements.”

New ODK members include:

  • Celeste Cummings ’19 from Florissant,  MO
  • Golly Easterly ’18 from Little Rock, AR
  • Jordan Esry ’18 from Independence, MO
  • Zachery Evers ’19, Centerton, AR
  • Manfredo Flores ’18 from Rio Grande, Honduras
  • Eva Ottinger ’18 from Columbia, MO
  • Madison Rybak ’19 from Dardenne Prairie, MO
  • Olivia Wilson ’19 from Liberty, MO

Established in 1935, Alpha Tau, the Westminster ODK Circle, honors those who excel in scholarship, athletics, campus or community service, social and religious activities, involvement in student government, communication, speech, journalism and creative and performing arts.

Dr. John Langton is the current faculty advisor.

“Our goal next year is to further dialogue about various campus issues,” says Dr. Langton.

Omicron Delta Kappa brings outstanding students together to encourage the development of general campus citizenship, adhering to the highest standards of scholarship, service, integrity, character and fellowship.

Originally founded in 1914 at Washington and Lee University, ODK places emphasis on the development of the whole person, both as a member of the college community and a contributor to a better society.
