WestMO Psych Major’s Paper Selected for Publication in National Journal

Jamie Striler ’16, member of the Missouri Delta Chapter of Alpha Chi at Westminster and a senior psychology major, recently received confirmation that her paper, “Using a Turn-Taking Intervention to Lower Social Interaction Anxiety in College Students with Asperger Syndrome,” has been accepted for publication in Alpha Chi’s journal of undergraduate scholarship, Aletheia.

“The aim of this study was to test the effectiveness of an intervention that teaches turn-taking to college students with Asperger Syndrome,” says Striler. “The intervention consisted of multiple dyadic conversations and utilized the idea of a talking stick to promote natural communication skills.”

Striler’s paper will be available online with the Alpha Chi scholarly journal on April 15, 2016. Striler is the second Westminster student in the past 5 years to achieve publication with Alpha Chi.

Alpha Chi is national academic honor society that represents the top 10 percent of college and graduate students. Westminster’s Missouri Delta Chapter of Alpha Chi has been named one of the top chapters in the nation for 14 years.
