Sara Hart Weir, MS ’04 (Kappa Kappa Gamma)President, National Down Syndrome Society

Weir’s passion of fighting for the human rights of all people with Down syndrome stems from her experience as a peer mentor and friend to a young woman with Down syndrome, Kasey, over two decades ago. As NDSS’ President, Weir oversees the largest nonprofit in the United States dedicated to advocating for people with Down syndrome and their families. 

Under Weir’s leadership, NDSS led the advocacy effort behind the passage of the landmark and historical Stephen Beck Jr. Achieving a Better Life Experience (ABLE) Act in 2014. This landmark law is hailed as the most significant legislation for the disability community since the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)

Weir has a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Political Leadership from Westminster College and a Master of Science in Public Policy and Management from Carnegie Mellon University’s Heinz College.

Derick Dailey ’11, Stein Scholar for Ethics and Law, Pursuing a J.D. (Doctorate of Jurisprudence), Fordham University School of Law in New York City

Derick served as the James E. Johnson Legal Fellow at the Brennan Center for Justice at NYU School of Law and recently has served as a Legal Intern at the United States Attorney Office for the Eastern District of New York and as a Judicial Extern for the Honorable Ronald C. Ellis of the Southern District of New York. For 2016-2017, Derick served as the Board Chair and Chief Executive Officer for the National Black Law Students Association, leading more than 6,000 alumni and student members across the world.

He has served on the Board of Directors (Executive Committee) for Bread for the World, Bread for the World Institute, and the Alliance to End Hunger, as well as on the Board of the Rudd Center for Food and Obesity at the University of Connecticut. Derick attended the 10th Assembly of the World Council of Churches in Busan, South Korea as a North American delegate of the Global Ecumenical Theological Institute.

Derick graduated from Yale University as a Dames Scholar with a Master of Arts in Religion and Ethics (Black Religion in the African Diaspora) in 2014 and from Westminster College with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Religious Studies in 2011.

Chris Ursitti ’83

Chris is chief innovation officer for GreenHouse Holdings, Inc., a green solution provider that provides energy efficiency services and products to residential and industrial customers. He also serves as chief operating officer of The Hollywood Location Company, Inc., which offers film location management services, and owns and operates a motion picture studio, Los Angeles Center Studios.
