Skulls of Seven Members Named for 2020-2021 Academic Year
Members of the 124th August Society of the Skulls of Seven were selected recently for the 2020-2021 Academic Year. Founded in 1898, the Skulls of Seven is a mystical honor society that is one of the oldest groups on the Westminster College campus. The society dedicates itself to upholding the traditions and ideals of the College. All members are students in good academic standing and respected leaders of the Westminster community. Each strives to put the College ahead of personal or special interests. The Skulls of Seven organization prides itself on commitment to seven virtues: tradition, history, scholarship, loyalty and friendship, citizenship, service and honor. The Skulls of Seven are defenders of Westminster traditions and are chosen for their adherence to these seven virtues.
The following six seniors and one junior were selected based on their proven devotion to the College and their positive representation of Westminster:
Ben Morrow: Grand Marshal
Ben Morrow is from Sullivan, MO. He is triple-majoring in Accounting, Math and Business Administration with a concentration in Finance. Morrow has been president of Phi Delta Theta, active in the Blue Blazers Investment Committee and is a dedicated Student Ambassador. Committed to academics, Morrow has served on the Honor Commission. He is also a member of the Honors Program and has served as a Westminster Seminar mentor, particularly helping those in need at the Learning Opportunities Center. Morrow is a member of many honor societies on campus, including Alpha Lambda Delta, Pi Mu Epsilon, Delta Mu Delta, Omicron Delta Kappa and Order of Omega. After graduation, Morrow plans on pursuing a career in actuarial science.
Sarah Ayers
Sarah Ayers, from Ballwin, MO, is double-majoring in Political Science and History and is a Pre-Law minor. She is currently vice president of Recruitment for the Panhellenic Association and Blue Blazers Investment Committee. She also is vice chair of the Westminster Veterans Memorial Committee. Ayers is active in Student Foundation, Student Ambassadors, History Club and Kappa Alpha Theta. She is a member of the following honor societies: Phi Alpha Theta, Phi Alpha Delta, Omicron Delta Kappa, Order of Omega and Alpha Lambda Delta. She has previously served as a head Seminar mentor, lead organizer for Blue Jay Buddies and as a student representative on the Symposium committee. This summer, she is involved in an internship with the Missouri Attorney General’s Office, working on the Sexual Assault Kit Initiative to rectify the backlog of assault kits in Missouri. Ayers has an interest in intellectual property law and plans to attend law school after graduation.
Katie Carey
Katie Carey is from Columbia, MO, and is majoring in Biochemistry with a biological emphasis. On campus, Carey is the president of Kappa Kappa Gamma, the president of Student Foundation, a head mentor for the Westminster First Year Experience and the student lead of Blue Jay Buddies. She also is a member of Pre-Health Care Professionals Association, Order of Omega, Omicron Delta Kappa and Alpha Lambda Delta. After graduation, Caret will attend A.T. Still University, where she will begin her lifelong goal of becoming a physician.
Wilson Fischer
Wilson Fischer is a rising senior from Jefferson City, MO. He is currently pursuing a dual degree in Finance and Business Administration with a concentration in Management. Fischer enhanced his educational experience through an accounting internship with Advanced Technology Services in Peoria, IL, last summer. He is a member of the Delta Omicron chapter of Delta Tau Delta fraternity and currently serves as the organization’s house manager. He has also served as an executive officer for Student Foundation and actively participates in Westminster’s Student Ambassadors. After graduation, Fischer plans to pursue a career in banking or finance.
Justin Gerdiman
Justin Gerdiman is from Camdenton, MO, and is majoring in Accounting and Finance with a minor in Spanish. He is on the men’s soccer team and is a Remley Women’s Center intern. Additionally, he was a resident advisor for a year and is a member of NAFA. After graduation, Gerdiman plans to go into the finance or accounting field in his hometown or work for a firm in St. Louis, MO.
Joshua Udinyiwe
Joshua Udinyiwe is a Biochemistry major with a biological emphasis and a Psychology minor. He is from Boonville, MO. Udinyiwe plays soccer and tennis and is a member of Delta Tau Delta, Tri-Beta, Student Ambassadors, Blue Blazers Investment Committee and Pre-Healthcare Professionals. After his time at Westminster, Udinyiwe plans to attend graduate school and study in the healthcare field.
Ashlynn LaFlamme: Baby Skull
Ashlynn LaFlamme is a rising junior from Jefferson City, MO. She is majoring in Biochemistry with a biological emphasis and minoring in Public Health and Psychology. Some of LaFlamme’s activities on campus include serving as the philanthropy chair of Kappa Kappa Gamma, being president of the Pre-Healthcare Professionals Association and the American Medical Student Association sub-chapter, as well as serving on the Oath and Values board. She also is a member of both Student Foundation and Student Ambassadors. Additionally, LaFlamme is a Westminster tutor, laboratory aide and member of the Honors Program. She is a member of the Alpha Lambda Delta, Tri-Beta, Alpha Chi Sigma and Omicron Delta Kappa honor societies. After her time at Westminster, LaFlamme plans to attend medical school and pursue a career as a physician, specializing in surgery or emergency medicine.
