Sigma Alpha Epsilon Renovations, Sneak Peek
Alumni Weekend 2014 will provide Westminster’s Sigma Alpha Epsilon active chapter and returning alumni with much to celebrate! The chapter will recognize its 65th anniversary on the campus of Westminster College and commemorate the completion of a 10-year, three-phased Chapter House renovation and remodeling project.
On Saturday, April 26, alumni, actives, and friends are invited to attend the ribbon-cutting ceremony and rededication of the Chapter House in memory of Ted C. Wetterau, Class of 1951, the original chapter Eminent Archon.
The 1950s look of the house has been transformed into a new design, utilizing the original footprint of the house but adding a more gracious look. This includes a columned front portico, cathedral ceilings in the living room, dining room and foyer, and a number of enhancements assuring accessibility to members and guests with disabilities, including a foyer chair lift and first floor powder room for female guests.
The renovation was made possible thanks to the generosity of more than 200 loyal alumni, friends and parents who donated more than $700,000 during the past 10 years, and thanks to the dedicated efforts of alumni who worked long and hard to make this vision a reality.
“I am grateful to our volunteers and donors, President Barney Forsythe and the Westminster team, SAE Nationals and Province Zeta-Alpha for their unparalleled commitment to our success,” says George W. Mahn, III, Class of 1992, Reunion Chair, Missouri Gamma Alumni Association. “During Alumni Weekend 2014, Missouri Gamma will commemorate several milestones after a decade of persistent progress has finally produced striking success.”
