Sigma Alpha Epsilon Celebrates 65 Years and Newly Renovated House

The men of the Missouri Gamma Chapter of Sigma Alpha Epsilon (SAE) celebrated the 65th anniversary of their presence on the Westminster College campus during Alumni Weekend 2014 with a dedication of their newly renovated Chapter House.

This final renovation phase completed a three-tiered renovation that began in 2006, continued in 2008 and is now finished in 2014.

Renovations were made of both the interior and exterior but the entire social quarters of the House were transformed, including the entryway, foyer, living room, dining room and weekend-kitchen.  Actives were able to continue living in the residential wing while the construction took place.

By the end of March the Campaign for Missouri Gamma had raised over $712,000 with a total of 222 donors.

Remarks were offered at the ceremony by Westminster President Dr. George B. Forsythe; Raleigh Ritter, ’01, President of the Missouri Gamma Board of Trustees; Kyle Bryant, ’15, Eminent Archon of the Missouri Gamma Chapter;  Deran Abernathy, Associate Executive Director of national Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity; and David E Marshall, ’64, Chairman of the Capital Campaign and member of the Missouri Gamma Board of Trustees.

George Mahn, ’92, Chair of the Missouri Gamma 65th Anniversary Reunion; Eric Feagles, ’07, President of the Missouri Gamma Alumni Association; and Holden McHaney, Class of 2005; were introduced and recognized for their work.  Dan Haslag, Executive Director of Westminster Plant Operations and his team were recognized for their assistance on the project.

Because of all the extensive work he put into the project, David Marshall was presented with a gift.

A ribbon cutting took place at the conclusion of the ceremony, and a celebratory toast was made.

“The partnership between SAE and Westminster College, which resulted from the renovation campaign, provides a strong foundation to ensure the future success of the Missouri Gamma Chapter,” says President Forsythe. “We, the College administration, stand behind the Chapter 100%  and will continue to work side by side to carry this momentum forward.”
