Senior Brennan Jeffries Will Make an Impact With a Degree in Computer Systems Analysis

Meet Brennan Jeffries, ’24 IND, who will be one of the first to graduate from Westminster with a degree in computer systems analysis – one of six new programs launched by the College in 2022. Read further to learn why the senior from Jefferson City, Missouri, chose this particular major and what he plans to do after graduation on May 11, 2024.

What activities and organizations are you involved in at Westminster?
I am involved in a few activities at Westminster, including being on the men’s basketball team, where I serve as the team captain. I am also part of the Computer Systems Analysis and Digital Media Search Committees. Through both of these, I feel as if I am able to contribute to both athletic and academic life here at Westminster.

What made you choose Westminster College?
I had some lifelong friends who were coming here to play basketball as well, so I knew that I could continue the friendship we had. Additionally, Westminster is close to home, meaning I can easily be around family. I also heard consistently good things about Westminster from alumni, like that the professors are excellent, the campus allows for making strong connections, the education is challenging but rewarding, and that the social life on campus was amazing for a small college.

What made you select computer systems analysis as your major, and what do you like most about it?
I selected computer systems analysis as my major because I have always been fascinated with technology and how many different things you can do with it. It applies to pretty much every job field nowadays in one way or another, and that creates so many opportunities to find something in a field you are interested in (for me, that is the medical technology field). The thing that I enjoy most about my major is the wide variety of choices the professors let you pick from when doing a project. You can pretty much choose anything and relate that to the topic we are learning about at the time.

Who is your favorite professor?
This is definitely the hardest question. Throughout my four years here at Westminster I have had so many amazing professors that have helped me in so many different ways that I don’t think that I could just pick one.

What is your favorite spot on campus?
My favorite spot on campus is probably the library.

What do you plan to do after graduation?
I hope to get my master’s degree in a related field.

What are your hobbies and interests?
I enjoy golfing, fishing, and traveling, and I also like spending time with family, spending time with my girlfriend, and trying out new restaurants.
