Westminster Students to Learn about Hotly Debated State Issue from State Leader

CampusLife--Michael-FrameMissouri State Representative Michael Frame, a Democrat from Eureka, MO, will be on campus Monday, March 31, from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. in the Hermann Lounge as a part of the Westminster State Leader Forum series to discuss with Westminster faculty, staff, and students pending Right to Work legislation being considered by the Missouri General Assembly.  The Right to Work issue is one of the most hotly debated issues before the state legislature this session.

He will be introduced by Westminster Political Science Professor Tobias Gibson.

Members of the media are invited to attend.

Rep. Frame is a U.S. Naval veteran. He served aboard the aircraft carrier USS John F. Kennedy (1984-1988). During his tenure aboard Kennedy, his leadership abilities were recognized on several occasions. However, he is especially proud of receiving Presidential commendations from then President Ronald Reagan upon being selected Military Leader of the Year (1986).

Rep Frame began public service as an elected school board member with the Northwest R-I Board of Education. His fellow board members immediately selected him to serve as District Treasurer and he retained that post throughout his tenure.

Rep. Frame has been a union member for over 30 years. He is a former delegate of the St. Louis Labor Council and executive board member of the Jefferson and Rockwood Labor Clubs. Rep. Frame has worked as a construction laborer (Laborers Local 110) and journeyman pipefitter (Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 562). He also served as union official with the Service Employees International Union Local 1.

Representative Frame represents northwest Jefferson County (District 111).

The Westminster State Leader Forum is a new series of campus discussions begun in January to allow Westminster students who are preparing to become the leaders of tomorrow to interact with today’s state leaders.
