Professor Featured in MU Research Article

Dr. Dawn Holliday, associate professor of biology at Westminster, was recently featured in an article from the University of Missouri-Columbia (MU) about the important research she and the rest of her team are conducting on turtles.

Dr. Holliday is also an adjunct assistant professor of pathology and anatomical sciences at MU and in this role she is helping with research on the disruptive effects the chemical bisphenol A (BPA), which is found in a variety of common consumer products, has on the functions and behavior of turtles. Turtles can be used as an indicator of what possible effects this chemical would have on all other living organisms.

Another member of the team featured, Dr. Sharon Deem, director of the St. Louis Zoo Institute for Conservation Medicine, will be familiar to many of the Westminster community.  Dr. Deem presented at last year’s Hancock Symposium on the importance of saving life on earth in all its forms and keeping the interconnected systems of animals and humans in their natural environments functioning and healthy.
