Professor Emerita of Mathematical Sciences and Multiple Award Recipient to Deliver 2025 Commencement Address

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Fulton, Mo. – May 6, 2025: Westminster is pleased to announce that Mary Majerus, Ed.D., Professor Emerita of Mathematical Sciences, will deliver the College’s commencement address at 2 p.m. on May 10 in Champ Auditorium.
The ceremony is a ticketed event, with a livestream available to the general public on the College’s Facebook and livestream pages.*
About Dr. Mary Majerus
Majerus served Westminster’s faculty for nearly 30 years ― from 1996 to 2024 ― and was well known for embracing the College’s educational mission, patiently supporting students while encouraging their exponential growth.
She was instrumental in adding a service-learning component to Westminster Seminar. Before her retirement in 2024, Majerus co-directed the College’s Undergraduate Scholars Forum, an annual event she strongly supported throughout her tenure at the College.
A resident of Ballwin, Missouri, Majerus is a past recipient of Westminster’s Alpha Chi Faculty of the Year Award, Kappa Kappa Gamma Outstanding Faculty Award, Junior Faculty Award and President’s Award for Excellence in Teaching.
“It is especially fitting to have Dr. Mary Majerus deliver the commencement address at a time when she has been granted emerita status in recognition of her distinguished career and exceptional contributions to Westminster College,” said Dr. Ingrid Ilinca, Provost and Chief Academic Officer. “Her dedication to students and commitment to excellence in teaching have left a lasting impact on generations of graduates, while her leadership in faculty governance and innovation in STEM education have made her a respected voice on campus and beyond.”
In addition to Majerus’ address and a variety of awards, the ceremony will feature a speech by Senior Class President Raigan McKee of Oologah, Oklahoma. Retiring faculty and staff members will also be recognized.
About Westminster’s Commencement Activities: Time-Honored Traditions
Majerus’ address is part of a number of commencement activities at Westminster, including baccalaureate at 10:30 a.m. in the Church of St. Mary the Virgin, Aldermanbury, part of America’s National Churchill Museum.
Following the graduation ceremony, the Class of 2025 will participate in the Columns Ceremony, a time-honored Westminster tradition. Just as they are welcomed as freshmen into the Westminster community by walking through the Columns onto campus, graduates bid farewell to the College by walking the opposite direction through the Columns and out into the world.
The Columns Ceremony is open to the public.
A full schedule of commencement activities can be found on Westminster’s website.
