Phonathon Connections – One Alum Inspires Student Caller Matthew McCormack ’16
It’s Phonathon time, and a team of Westminster students are calling alums to catch up, get updates, connect about their Westminster experience, and talk about the Westminster Fund. What may seem like an ordinary phone call for alums can be an inspiring experience for our students. Hear what Matthew McCormack ’16 has to say about one particularly memorable call.
I recently spoke with alumnus, Mr. Scott Patrick ’83, through the Westminster College Phonathon. During our conversation, Mr. Patrick relived his college years by taking me back to his time as a Westminster student.
With degrees in Business Administration and Economics, Mr. Patrick spoke of the challenges he endured while working toward those degrees. Something that stood out to me while listening to Mr. Patrick was his memories of his professors. Mr. Patrick said the professors during his time at Westminster pushed him to the next level while simultaneously being a support system of encouragement. As a current student at Westminster College, it is wonderful to hear that professors back then were helpful and warmhearted just like they are today at the college.
After graduating from our small liberal arts college in Fulton, MO, Mr. Patrick went on to art school. He expressed how Westminster really allowed him to follow his passion to form his own graphic art business. As a Phonathon caller, I was inspired as I listened to Mr. Patrick’s memories and successes at Westminster College and beyond.
