Njie Rewrites Modern Day Record at Snowbird Open

Junior Manyima Njie rewrote the women’s track and field 60-meter dash indoor record at the Snowbird Open hosted by Illinois College Saturday afternoon. The women’s team placed 10th out of 16 teams. The men’s team did not place.

Njie finished in 8.20 seconds in the preliminary 60-meter dash to qualify for the finals. She placed 5th in the finals with a time of 8.43. Njie also competed in the 200-meter dash and placed 8th with a 28:55 time. Amanda Killgore also competed in the 200-meter dash. She placed 17th with a time of 29:98.

Sarah Koestner and Brier Skogsberg competed for Westminster in the 1 mile run. Koestner placed third with a time of 5:40.20. Skogsberg finished just seconds later with a 5:46.10 time, placing seventh. 

Rachel Bade placed 9th in the 400-meter dash, finishing in 1:07.04.

The women’s distance medley team placed fourth with a time of 14:11.80.

Westminster had four runners competing in the men’s 1 mile run. Daniel Lindaman finished first for the Blue Jays, placing 9th with a time of 4:46. Jesse Edwards and Matt Borst finished back-to-back, placing 12th and 13th, respectively. Jacob Burch placed 19th with a 5:17 time.

Edwards, Borst and Lindaman also competed in the 3000-meter dash. Edwards finished in 12th with a time of 9:40.33. Borst and Lindaman finished just seconds apart, placing 20th and 23rd, respectively.

The Blue Jays will travel to Elsah, Illinois this Friday, January 31, to partake in the Principia Relays.
