New Academic Web Page Rollout – Focus on Accounting

The Office of Marketing & Strategic Communications (MSC) is refining the College’s communication strategy to reach all audiences in a more compelling and engaging manner. A critical aspect involves continual development and enhancement of the website aimed at attracting and retaining students.

Lana Poole, Vice President and Chief Communications Officer and leader of MSC, says the website remains the front door to the College for most audiences. “It’s how our audiences learn more about us,” she said. “We wanted to begin website enhancement efforts with improving our academics and admissions pages. It’s the best way to effectively communicate with prospective students and their parents about Westminster’s quality academic offerings.”

The first academic page to be rolled out is Accounting. In 2016, Westminster announced a new agreement with Washington University’s Olin Business School in St. Louis, MO in which Westminster College students may earn a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree in Accounting in just five years.

Since the program’s inception, new students have taken advantage of the partnership. “It’s been extremely well received by students, parents, and industry” said Elise Bartley, associate professor of accounting. “Students really appreciate having access to the M.A. in Accounting at the Olin Business School and Fortune 100 companies appreciate having access to Westminster College graduates.”

Additional web pages are in development for other academic programs, lectures and partnerships important to the college’s future.
